The Athens County Board of Developmental Disabilities (ACBDD) quickly responded to COVID-19 by closing its doors to the public, transitioning staff to remote work, and implementing various measures to support individuals with developmental disabilities. The ACBDD delivered food to students' homes, collected and distributed personal protective equipment (PPE), and established an online forum for providers. The agency also initiated a distance learning program, provided financial support to providers and families, and conducted a stakeholder survey to assess its response. The ACBDD's leadership team continued to meet weekly to develop safety protocols and ensure essential services continued. Various teams, including Early Intervention, Employment Options, and Service & Support, adapted to the new situation, finding creative ways to support individuals and families. The agency has settled into a new normal, with most staff working from home and continuing to find new ways to support those in need.
