The article discusses the electoral behavior of young voters in Slovakia, focusing on their support for alternative political platforms, dissatisfaction with democratic governance, and propensity to far-right politics and radical problem solutions. The research is based on data from the MYPLACE project, a 7.9 million Euro EC-funded study that explored young people's civic, political, and social participation in 14 European countries. The study used a combination of survey, interview, and ethnographic research methods to provide new data on young people's participation and understandings of European civic and political spaces. The research was conducted in two contrasting sites in Slovakia: Trnava, a town with a homogenous ethnic structure and relatively low social and economic deprivations, and Rimavská Sobota, a district with high ethnic heterogeneity and above-average social and economic deprivations. The study found that young people in Slovakia are increasingly dissatisfied with democratic governance and are turning to alternative political platforms, including far-right parties. The research highlights the need for policymakers to address the obstacles and facilitators for young people's participation in the political arena and to develop effective policy responses and interventions to promote civic engagement and democratic governance.
