The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) proposes to adjust fees charged by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to individuals and organizations. The proposed changes include:
- Raising the fee for SEVIS Form I-901 from $200 to $350 for F and M visa applicants.
- Increasing the fee from $180 to $220 for most J visa applicants, while maintaining the $35 fee for au pair, camp counselor, and summer work or travel program participants.
- Raising the fee for submitting a school certification petition from $1,700 to $3,000.
- Establishing a $1,250 fee for school recertification petitions and a $675 fee for appeals or motions following a denial or withdrawal of a school petition.
- Maintaining the $655 fee for initial school site visits, with clarification that this fee will also be charged for adding new locations or campuses.
The proposed fee adjustments aim to ensure that SEVP's fees are sufficient to recover the full cost of its activities and establish a fair balance of cost recovery between beneficiary classes.
