The Water JPI Procedure for requesting an extension of project duration applies to principal investigators of RD projects funded under Water JPI Joint Transnational Calls. If an extension request doesn't impact the overall project objectives and duration, the individual project partner should request an extension from their national funding partner organization. If the extension request does impact the overall project, the project coordinator must send a justified request to the Follow-up Secretariat at least 4 months prior to the initial project end date. The Follow-up Secretariat then informs relevant funding partner organizations, which evaluate the request and communicate their position within 4 weeks. Each project partner must then send a justified request to their respective funding partner organization for a formal national grant extension. The maximum extension should not exceed 6 months, and no budget extension can be granted. Requests for extension can only concern the project timeline, and all requests should be addressed as soon as the need for extension is identified.
