Summary

Researchers have long been fascinated by the golden ratio, a mathematical constant approximately equal to 1.618033, which appears in various aspects of nature, from DNA to galaxies. Despite its widespread presence, the reason behind its existence in nature has remained unclear. This study uses advanced 3D modeling to demonstrate that the golden section is a logical and mathematical relation governing growth around a center, essential in nature. The golden ratio is related to the "Principle of the Least Action" and the "Principle of Matter Economy," which guide the growth of living organisms. By analyzing the geometry of the golden section, the researchers established principles of growth around a center, uniform growth, and the relation between Fibonacci numbers and the golden section, providing a breakthrough in understanding the golden ratio's presence in nature.
