The Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) was created in 1963 to finance agricultural land reform, and has since become a universal bank with expanded commercial banking powers. It has a total of 356 field units, 777 ATM units, and remittance companies in several countries. LANDBANK is organized into four sectors and has a manpower complement of over 7,000. Its major roles include providing credit assistance to small farmers and fisherfolk, and implementing the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP). The bank has received various awards for its performance and has a Microfinance Program that aims to support poverty alleviation and jobs generation by providing credit assistance to small farmers, fisherfolk, and micro entrepreneurs. The program has released over P1.5 billion in loans to benefit around 115,000 individuals from 2007.
