- Abstract, Methods, Results, Tables/Figs: April 14 (5 pm)
- Full Report: April 28 (5 pm)
- Final Full Report: June 2 (5 pm)

Course Description:
- Hands-on experience in data analysis and scientific report writing.
- Emphasis on participation, with a focus on individual report writing.
- Prerequisites include introductory statistics/biostatistics, multiple regression, categorical and censored survival data analysis.

Learning Objectives:
- Formulate scientific questions, choose appropriate statistical approaches, and interpret results.
- Recognize key features of data and choose suitable statistical methods.
- Create descriptive statistics and graphical displays for effective communication.
- Check assumptions for valid inferences and conduct sensitivity analyses.
- Write clear, succinct scientific reports for a statistically untrained audience.

Grading Policy:
- C/NC grading (pass/fail) with active class participation required.
- Assignments graded on pass/fail basis, but reports scored 1-5 in Science, Statistics, and Writing.
- Includes reading critiques, data analysis, writing, and presentations.

Statistical Software:
- Any statistical software acceptable, with a preference for R (syntax learning not an objective).
- Students encouraged to share code and tips.

Data:
- Data sets available on the course website in text, Excel, or .CSV formats.

Data Analysis & Report Writing (Sp 2019) teaches advanced data manipulation and reporting skills, focusing on preparation for the Applied Exam with strict deadlines.
