Summary

The Cameroon segment of the Sangha Tri-National Landscape covers 1,470,799 ha, with 1,197,707 ha as permanent forest estate and 273,092 ha as non-permanent forest estate. The permanent forest estate includes the Lobéké National Park and 14 forest concessions, with 11 types of vegetation and high biological diversity, including 764 plant species, 45 large and medium-sized mammal species, and 300 bird species. The area is sparsely populated with 63,150 individuals, including the Baka people and other ethnic groups. The process of gazetting forest concessions involved preliminary technical reports, public notification, awareness-raising, and consultation with local communities, resulting in the establishment of the Lobéké National Park and 14 forest concessions, with boundaries refined based on bio-ecological and socio-economic studies.
