The Building Resilience in Retirement (BRIR) project aimed to improve financial capability of older people in Northern Ireland through a digital inclusion training program. The program, which consisted of six modules, was delivered to 108 hard-to-reach older people between July 2017 and March 2018. Evaluation findings showed that BRIR improved digital skills, confidence, and awareness of online financial resources among participants. Key findings included: 39% of respondents described their digital skills as 'good' post-training, 80% reported increased confidence in accessing online financial tools, and 82% agreed that BRIR made them more aware of budgeting and managing money. However, the evaluation also noted limitations, including the small sample size and lack of longitudinal data. Despite these limitations, the project demonstrated that digital inclusion programs can improve financial capability among hard-to-reach older people, and its findings have implications for policy and practice.
