Presentation workshop of the results of the Project "Implementation of an Integrated Marine Waters Monitoring Program"
within the implementation of the European Marine Strategy Directive 2008/56/EC

On Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the amphitheater of the ground floor of the Ministry of Environment and Energy building, Mesogion 119, Athens, at 9:30 a.m., a presentation workshop of the results of the Project titled "Implementation of an Integrated Marine Waters Monitoring Program" is organized by the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR). The project was implemented with resources from the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (EEA FM) for the period 2009-2014 and the National Public Investments Program, within the framework of the call "GR02 Integrated management of marine and inland waters".

The aim of the project is to implement an integrated and sustainable monitoring system for Greek seas through the upgrading of existing recording stations of the POSEIDON system with new sensors and technologies, improving fisheries data collected under monitoring programs, and harmonizing the assessment of small pelagic fish stocks with the ecosystem approach in the field of fisheries. The completion of this project is expected to contribute significantly to the country's efforts to implement the European Marine Strategy Directive.
