Summary

Delirium is a common problem after coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), with a reported incidence of 10.5-50.6%. A care program was developed and evaluated to manage delirium in patients after CABG. The program was implemented in three areas: before, during, and after surgery. The results showed that delirium occurred in 68% of patients without intervention and 38% of patients with intervention. The incidence of delirium was significantly lower in the intervention group (P<0.05). The total number of delirium episodes in the ICU was also significantly lower in the intervention group (P<0.05). The study confirmed that the developed program can reduce the incidence of delirium in hospitalized patients after CABG.
