Summary

Healthcare has significantly evolved due to technological advancements, with the industrial internet of things (IIoT) facilitating connected healthcare systems that improve data connectivity and quality of service. However, security and privacy concerns arise when collecting, sharing, and processing healthcare data using connected sensor devices. Distributed ledger technologies (DLT) can address these concerns, and this paper investigates the use of DLT, specifically IOTA Tangle and masked authenticated messaging (MAM), to achieve secure data sharing within a healthcare system. The proposed framework provides a decentralized, immutable, secure, fee-less, and highly scalable system for the healthcare industry, addressing security concerns such as confidentiality, accessibility, and accuracy.
