Health data analysis and feedback mechanisms contribute to building capacity and continuous improvement of health services. The Technical Secretary for Universal Health Coverage produces a monthly bulletin for stakeholders of the Gratuité program, with the first special issue covering January to December 2020. Key findings include:
- 90% of surveyed beneficiaries are satisfied with their experiences with the Gratuité program in 2020, with dissatisfaction driven by wait time for services (62%).
- A high proportion of primary health care centers (94.4%) and university hospitals (92%) submitted cost reports in 2020.
- 245,035,737 FCFA (USD $440,677) of overbilling by health facilities was detected.
- Average costs for all services at the CSPS/CM level remain consistent throughout 2020.
- Payment shortfalls to health facilities amount to 22,425,643,058 FCFA (USD $40,330,680) by the end of 2020.
- Only 16 of 70 health districts submitted usable data on orders and deliveries of essential and generic drugs in 2020.
- 279 cases of erroneous payments, 238 cases of parallel sale of products, and 163 cases of overbilling were identified in 652 health facilities.
- The average overall satisfaction index for orders of essential and generic medicines from CAMEG is reported at 68% nationally.
