The recommended first aid measures include flushing eyes and skin with plenty of water, and seeking medical attention. Potassium chloride is non-flammable, but it can react violently with water, generating heat, and forms flammable gases when reacted with zinc. It is hygroscopic and should be stored in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from incompatibles such as moisture. Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, synthetic apron, and gloves, should be worn when handling the substance.
