The project "Enhance Government and Civil Society Responses to Counter Trafficking in Persons in Bhutan" (BHUZ13) aimed to strengthen government and civil society initiatives to counter human trafficking in Bhutan. The project had four outcomes: improving criminal justice system responses, strengthening cross-border collaboration, increasing awareness, and protecting trafficked victims. Despite facing challenges, the project enhanced government and civil society responses to counter trafficking in persons. The project established strong partnerships with government agencies and NGOs, and contributed to curbing human trafficking through increased knowledge of duty-bearers and right-holders. However, the project had limitations, including inadequate capacity among duty-bearers and right-holders to sustain and replicate project interventions independently. Recommendations include creating a mechanism for regular monitoring and supervision, involving more women in awareness-raising activities, and strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders. Lessons learned include the importance of targeting specific groups, such as women, and the need for advanced training activities on countering human trafficking.
