Huron University College researchers commit to conducting and disseminating research related to indigenous communities from a position of partnership and mutual respect.
The CURL Student Fellowship Awards Policy is as follows:
1. Eligibility: All Huron Faculty of Arts and Social Science students currently registered in a program at Huron are eligible to apply.
2. Graduating students are eligible if still registered at the time of application.
3. Previous winners are not eligible for a second award, but previous Travel Bursary winners are eligible.
4. Applications must be supported by a CURL Faculty Associate who serves as the official Faculty Mentor.
5. Members of the CURL Steering Committee may not apply or serve as Faculty Mentors.
6. There are two funding periods: Summer Fellowships (May 1 to August 30) and Fall/Winter Fellowships (October 1 to April 30).
7. Each Fellowship Award is worth $1500.
8. Completed applications are ranked by the CURL Awards Committee using the assessment rubric.
9. Applications include two parts: a Student Application and a Faculty Mentor Statement.
10. Awards may only be given to extra-curricular research proposals, not those for course assignments or credit.
11. Award winners must present research findings, update the CURL Steering Committee, and complete a final report and reflection.
The CURL Student Fellowship Assessment Rubric evaluates applications based on three dimensions:
1. Summary/Identification and Articulation of the Problem
2. Significance
3. Research Design and Methodology.
