The Patriarch's declarations of Armenian population in 1878, 1880, and 1881 show significant discrepancies, with the 1881 figure being 743,371, while the 1882 figure jumps to 1,630,000, an increase of 886,629 in just one year. Marcel Leart's findings also show inconsistencies, with the total Armenian population in the Ottoman Empire estimated to be 2,660,000. The paper aims to determine the actual population before and after the relocation to figure out the number of lives lost during the incident.
