Summary

The study aims to develop a scale about digital citizenship based on Ribble & Bailey's (2007) nine touchpoints, which include access, commerce, communication, literacy, etiquette, law, rights and responsibilities, health and wellness, and security. The scale, called the Digital Citizenship Scale (DCS), consists of 34 items and was applied to 229 students from the Faculty of Education at Sakarya University. The results of the exploratory factor analysis showed nine factors, and the internal consistency coefficients were used to examine the reliability of the scale, which was reduced to 33 items after validity and reliability analysis. The study's goal is to educate, empower, and protect students as digital citizens in the 21st century.
