Summary

Keldysh Institute preprints discuss a spin-stabilized satellite with a three-stage active magnetic attitude control system. The system consists of three successive algorithms: nutation damping, spinning around the axis of symmetry, and reorientation of the axis in inertial space. The dynamics of the satellite are analytically studied using an averaged geomagnetic field model, and the results are verified by numerical simulation. The paper examines the dependence of the satellite's motion characteristics on orbit inclination and other parameters, allowing for the analysis of time-response. Five different algorithms are studied, including the "-Bdot" algorithm for initial angular velocity damping and nutational motion damping. The satellite's angular motion is described using Beletsky-Chernousko variables, and the geomagnetic field is represented by an averaged model.
