Summary

The proposed algorithm hides secret text in a cover image by modifying the least significant bits (LSB) of the pixels. The secret text is compressed twice using an Arithmetic coding algorithm, and the resulting secret bits are hidden in the cover pixels. Three methods are used to select the cover pixels:

1. Edge modification: The edges of the image are modified to increase the number of edges.
2. Lighter-colored regions: The lighter-colored regions of the image are selected.
3. Combination of edge and region: The two methods are combined to increase security and keep the secret message unrecognized.

Key Features

The LSB technique is used to hide the secret bits in the last 2 bits of the cover pixels.
The correction approach is used to increase the stego image's imperceptibility.
The algorithm achieves an average Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) of 62.76 dB for the lighter-colored regions method and 62.72 dB for the combination method.

Comparison with Other Techniques

The proposed algorithm has a higher PSNR value compared to other steganographic techniques, such as the method proposed by Kamal and Islam (55 dB) and the method proposed by Maniriho and Ahmad (55 dB).
* The algorithm has a higher capacity compared to other techniques, such as the method proposed by Emad et al. (8192 digits).

Conclusion

The proposed algorithm is a effective method for hiding secret text in a cover image, with a high PSNR value and a high capacity. The combination of edge and region methods provides an additional layer of security and makes it difficult to detect the hidden message.

Description

Developing algorithms for image steganography increases capacity by choosing the best pixels. The Least Significant Bit (LSB) method is used to insert secret data into a cover image. Secret text is compressed using Arithmetic coding algorithm.
