- Few vendors used business practices to increase sales (12% in July to 0% in December).
- Some vendors borrowed money due to COVID-19, with a slight increase over time (0% in July to 22% in December).

From the consumer perspective:
- Most consumers' household financial situations stayed the same or improved (59% in July to 100% in December).
- Consumers visited markets at least once a week, mainly to buy food (68% in July to 100% in December).
- Consumers mostly shopped at markets (82% in July to 100% in December) and considered vendors trustworthy (77% in July to 100% in December).
- Many consumers provided feedback to vendors or market officials, which was often taken into consideration (59% in July to 60% in December).

Food prices remained relatively stable, with some decreases (milk and groundnuts) and increases (beef liver and spinach). Tanzania received its first vaccine doses in July 2021 and had administered almost 2.5 million doses by December 2021, with about 2.8% of the population fully vaccinated. The Kariakoo and Buguruni markets have COVID-19 regulations in place, including mask-wearing and hand washing.
