The Eighth Session of the Governing Body of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture is considering a draft framework for a Capacity Development Strategy. The strategy aims to support Treaty implementation by Contracting Parties through a programmatic approach to capacity development, improving coherency in planning and delivering capacity development initiatives. The draft framework provides an initial basis for developing the Capacity Development Strategy for 2021-2025, enabling the Governing Body to have a comprehensive overview of ongoing capacity development initiatives, identify gaps, achieve synergies, and set priorities. The Governing Body is invited to consider the draft framework and provide guidance on the development of the strategy, which will be submitted for consideration at its Ninth session.
