Summary

To apply for ethics approval for an undergraduate research study at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), students must submit an application to the Undergraduate Research Ethics Committee (UREC) through an electronic ethics review management system, Infonetica. The application should include a completed and signed e-form application, investigator's declarations, CVs, protocol synopsis, protocol, information and consent forms, and other relevant documents. There are two submission deadlines per month, and the review process typically takes 2-4 weeks for minimal risk reviews and 5-6 weeks for full committee reviews. The UREC reviews applications based on ethical principles, research design, participant selection and recruitment, data collection procedures, data management, and ethical considerations.
