El lenguaje figurado es aquel en el cual las palabras o las expresiones tienen un significado diferente al que poseen originalmente. En un texto no literario, se puede encontrar lenguaje figurado en frases como "Lo más destacable es que los jueces de la competencia eran varios pesos pesados del mundo del manga y del animé", donde "pesos pesados" se refiere a los mejores exponentes o expertos en el campo. Otra frase es "Según las filtraciones, Saikomic tocó el cielo al lograr el primer lugar junto a un autor surcoreano", donde "tocó el cielo" significa alcanzó su mayor éxito o se sintió muy feliz. También se encuentra en la expresión "...ambos podrán publicar sus obras, quizás el sueño dorado de todos quienes hacen manga", donde "sueño dorado" se refiere al mayor deseo o la meta más anhelada.
