Summary

An off-line signature recognition and verification system is presented, using a moment invariant method and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). The system consists of two separate neural networks, one for signature recognition and another for verification. The process involves four steps: separating the signature from its background, normalization and digitization, obtaining moment invariant vectors, and implementing signature recognition and verification. The system uses image processing techniques, including converting color images to gray scale, noise reduction using a median filter, background elimination, and border clearing. Signature normalization is also performed to obtain a standard size for all signatures. The moment invariant method is used to generate invariants that are invariant to translation, rotation, and scaling, allowing for shape classification and part recognition.
