Convergence in the communications and content industries

A survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit found that 72% of executives believe migration to IP-based networks, 53% broadband penetration, and 45% competition from new service providers are driving the adoption of converged network services. Nearly one-third of participants intend to achieve widespread migration to converged services in a year or less. Convergence represents a huge opportunity for the industry, but also a challenge to create and maintain service quality. Two application categories, VoIP and entertainment services, require high QoS and are strengthening demand for higher QoS.
