Summary

Beginning with the 2015 public high school graduating class, schools cannot collect and provide personal academic information to the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) without written parental consent. Students and parents will receive a consent form, and if consent is given, students will have access to the LOSFA Student Hub, which tracks progress towards TOPS eligibility and provides college access and career readiness services. The Student Hub requires parental consent to receive academic information, including name, date of birth, social security number, and transcript data. LOSFA must have access to transcript data to determine TOPS eligibility, and the data includes various academic information, such as grades, courses, and GPA. Social security numbers are used to match data but are encrypted and not accessible to LOSFA employees. Students are assigned a unique LOSFA ID number after completing the FAFSA and matching it with ACT records, which should be included in all correspondence with LOSFA.
