A study assessed knowledge and awareness of pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine among 150 medical students at Shaqra University in Saudi Arabia. Results showed 25% strongly agreed that pharmacogenomics is relevant to their education, and 45% agreed to recommend pharmacogenomic testing. However, only 16% were familiar with genetics, and 14% could interpret pharmacogenomic test results. Knowledge about personalized medicine was 31%, with 40% of students agreeing to undergo genetic testing. The study concluded that while there is interest in these areas, knowledge is lacking, and incorporating them into the undergraduate medical curriculum could impart valuable knowledge to future medical students.
