Summary

This study analyzes the characteristics of audio stimuli that induce sleep and evaluates their effects on listeners. The researchers collected approximately 3 hours of sleep-inducing audio and 4 hours of casual conversation audio from a female professional speaker on YouTube. They extracted audio features such as pitch and energy, and calculated their mean and standard deviation. The results showed that audio with lower pitch and energy, and smaller standard deviations, tended to induce sleep. A subjective evaluation was conducted, where listeners rated the audio stimuli on a scale of 1-7 for valence (unpleasant-pleasant) and arousal (sleepy-alert). The results suggested that audio with smaller pitch and energy variations, and lower energy, were perceived as more sleep-inducing. The study's findings can be applied to the development of sleep-inducing audio content and have implications for the treatment of sleep disorders.
