Summary

Blended learning has become widespread in universities, and its importance has increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. Research on students' expectations of blended learning is limited, and this study aimed to investigate students' preconceived and informed expectations of blended learning. The study found that students' preconceived expectations were mostly positive and matched their informed expectations. Students expected flexibility, interaction, and communication with peers and lecturers, as well as ease of access to information and technology. The study recommends that subsequent blended learning programs be structured to meet students' positive expectations and lower their negative expectations, while promoting self-directed learning.
