Summary

Spatiotemporal freshwater-related earth system data are poorly organized, limiting research and management due to data disparity and lack of interoperability. A pilot project proposes the "GeoFRESH" online platform to integrate, process, manage, and visualize standardized spatiotemporal freshwater-related earth system data. The platform will provide a critical tool for stakeholders, allowing the exploitation of environmental, physical, and biodiversity freshwater data along the hydrographical network. The project aims to overcome challenges by preprocessing and tailoring data towards freshwater systems and building the GeoFRESH platform for FAIR data management and interoperability. Two case studies will demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach: predicting freshwater cyanobacterial algal blooms and predicting freshwater fish species habitat suitability.
