Summary

The Scottish Youth Parliament's research on young people's access to food in Scotland found that 86% of participants wanted free school meals extended to all secondary school pupils, and 75% said this would make them more likely to eat lunch at school. The report makes five recommendations:
1. Extend free school meals to all secondary school pupils.
2. Involve young people in decision-making about school meals and the eating environment.
3. Eliminate stigma associated with asking for help to access food.
4. Raise awareness among young people about local food access programs.
5. Bring the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child Incorporation Bill back to Parliament to ensure young people's rights are upheld and legally enforceable.
