Abercromby Nursery School's Special Educational Needs and Disability Policy aims to provide a learning environment that reflects the values of social and educational inclusion of all children. The policy outlines the school's commitment to working in partnership with families to identify and support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The school has a designated SENDco, Laura Hutchison, and a trained staff member, Mandy Corrigan, to lead the Speech and Language Early Intervention Programme. The policy covers arrangements for co-ordinating provision, admission arrangements, specialist provision and facilities, identification, assessment and review procedures, and transition for children with SEND. The school follows the ASSESS-PLAN-DO-REVIEW cycle and the Waves model to provide a graduated and considered response to children's needs. The policy ensures that all children have access to a broad and balanced curriculum, and that their progress is regularly assessed and reviewed.
