Summary

A new species of Polyalthia, P. zhui, is described from Hainan and southern Guangdong in southern China. It is distinguished from P. nemoralis by its green, fleshy, ovate petals, pilose carpels, and non-lobed stigma. Comparison with P. littoralis also shows distinct differences in petal texture, leaf shape, and fruiting peduncles. The new species is illustrated and described in detail, with a holotype specimen from the Hainan Western Expedition 264 (IBSC).
