This policy defines spirituality at St John’s CE VC Primary School as grounded in Christian principles, aiming for children to develop spiritually through four key concepts: self, others, world and beauty beyond. Spiritual development extends beyond Religious Education and Collective Worship, being explored across all curriculum areas. The policy uses the framework of Windows (encounters sparking wonder about life’s 'Wows' and 'Ows'), Mirrors (reflection time for exploring big questions and insights), and Doors (action opportunities to transform beliefs into practice).

The school aims for children to:
- Develop self-awareness and understanding of their unique identity
- Cultivate empathy, compassion, and reflective relationships with others
- Appreciate beauty in nature and human creativity
- Explore meaning beyond the everyday and their place in the universe
- Understand Christian and other religious beliefs with respect
- Grasp the church school ethos and Christian faith’s role in life’s purpose
- Develop critical questioning and expressive communication skills

Implementation occurs through integrated curriculum opportunities (including RE, English, Maths, PSHRE, Science, Humanities, Art, Music), dedicated worship services, themed weeks, extra-curricular activities, quiet reflection spaces, and prayer practices. This policy aligns with the Collective Worship Policy, RE Policy, and Equalities Policy.
