Summary

India was hit by a severe second wave of COVID-19, with hospitals overflowing, a critical shortage of oxygen and equipment, and people dying due to lack of medical care. Despite the challenges, the Kolkata Cathedral Relief Service (CRS) staff continued to work, with a quarter of them attending the office at a time. The organization has made progress in various projects, including the extension of the Pally Mangal centre, the construction of a new combined school and community centre in Brace Bridge, and the introduction of a nutrition scheme to provide meals to around 1,000 children. The Nari Dana project, which empowers poor and disadvantaged women, has also continued to run during the pandemic. CRS has set up new projects in Geonkhali and Kulberia, and has launched a fundraising campaign to support the nutrition scheme, with a target of £14,500.
