Summary

Workplace health promotion – A qualitative study of worker’s experience with health promotion. Companies have increased interest in workforce health and well-being, shifting from a narrow to a broad ethic of workplace health. This thesis explores how employees experience workplace health promotion through a phenomenological analysis of 14 interviews and observations at a Danish company. Findings show that employees experience health interventions as a positive suspension of their everyday-life, leaving them with feelings of energy and conscientiousness, and helping them relieve tensions. Employees construct a typification of the 'healthy employee' as productive and valuable to the company, and can be divided into four types of participants based on their motives, experiences, and relation to the community at the workplace.
