Summary

Paris-Saclay, France (23 February 2021) - Université Paris-Saclay is launching the "Never in the Red Again!" initiative to combat period poverty, affecting approximately 1.7 million people, many of them students, in France. The operation will be implemented in three stages:

1. Improved Access to Disposable Period Products: Eleven dispensers for organic and disposable pads/tampons from Marguerite & Cie will be installed across all nine constituent faculties, libraries, and student centers by March.

2. Regular Sanitary Protection for Vulnerable Students: Over 5,000 scholarship students in the University's institutions will receive free sanitary products at strategic locations like student associations, solidary stores, and health services.

3. Promotion of Reusable Menstrual Products: In partnership with Dans Ma Culotte, the University will distribute 500 sample reusable pads, cups, and underwear across its campuses to raise awareness about sustainable alternatives.

This initiative, supported by student associations, elected representatives, and funding from various organizations, aims to improve health standards, address economic constraints, and promote gender equality by raising awareness among non-menstruating individuals. The campaign will be launched during the 2021 Gender Equality Week with illustrations by press cartoonist Besse.
