No. 5 Kar Naval Unit-NCC at SDM College, Ujire, was established in 2001 under the "Karnataka and Goa" NCC Directorate. The unit has participated in various NCC activities, including regular training parades, social service, trekking, and national and international camps. Since 2001, 34 cadets have attended the Republic Day Camp in New Delhi, with many participating in the Rajpath March and Prime Minister's rally. 53 cadets have attended the All India Nau-Sainik Camp, with some winning medals in competitions. 4 cadets were selected for the Youth Exchange Program, visiting foreign countries as Indian goodwill ambassadors. Cadets have also participated in other camps, including National Integration Camp, ship attachment camp, scuba diving camp, and para-jumping camp.
