The Association for Latin American Art (ALAA) held its annual business meeting at the College Art Association in New York City on February 14, 2013. The meeting covered various topics, including the announcement of the 13th Annual Arvey Foundation Book Award, which went to Claudia Calirman for her book "Brazilian Art under Dictatorship." The ALAA Dissertation Award 2013 was given to Jennifer Josten for her dissertation "Mathias Goeritz and International Modernism in Mexico, 1949-1962." The meeting also discussed the upcoming Triennial Conference, to be held in Washington D.C. on March 15-17, and the 2014 Sponsored Session, titled "Textile Traditions of Latin America in Context." The association's financial report showed that it remains solvent, with 324 members, including 193 regular members, 85 student members, and 10 foreign or non-U.S. members. The meeting concluded with a discussion on new business, including the eligibility of self-publications, second editions, and electronic publications for consideration for awards, and the possibility of making travel or research awards.
