Summary

Researchers analyzed the clinical course, diagnosis, management, treatment, and outcomes of myocardial infarction (MI) in nonagenarians (≥90 years). The study included 82 patients aged ≥90 years, with a median age of 91 years, who were discharged from two cardiological centers in Ryazan between 2015 and 2020. The most common complaints were weakness, anginal pain, and dyspnea. Thrombolytic therapy was performed in 2.4% of cases, and coronary angiography was performed in 8.5% of patients. The development of complications of MI was observed in 80.5% of patients, and the intrahospital mortality rate was 40.2%. Factors associated with a lower risk of in-hospital death included the prescription of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and sartans, while the development of cardiogenic shock was associated with a higher risk of death.
