There are two types of networks: Peer-to-Peer and Client/Server. Peer-to-Peer networks are simple and low-cost but limited in functions and insecure. Client/Server networks can improve business performance by providing centralized security, backup, and internet connection. A network can influence small business performance in six ways: collaboration, file sharing, printer/fax sharing, data protection, shared internet access, and increasing productivity while reducing costs and saving time.
