The Japanese government conducted a survey on the implementation of "Houkago Kodomo Sogo Plan" (After-School Children's Comprehensive Plan) in all prefectures and municipalities. The plan aims to provide a safe and secure after-school environment for all schoolchildren, with a focus on dual-income households. The survey found that:

5,219 locations implemented both "Houkago Kodomo Kyoshitsu" (After-School Children's Classroom) and "Houkago Jidou Kurabu" (After-School Children's Club) within the same elementary school or adjacent facilities.
3,549 locations implemented a shared program for both services.
2,044 locations implemented a shared program in multiple facilities, including schools and other locations.
The main challenges in implementing the plan included:
+ Difficulty in securing personnel (83.0% of prefectures and 62.1% of municipalities).
+ Lack of available classrooms (59.6% of prefectures and 47.0% of municipalities).
+ Insufficient facilities and equipment (51.1% of prefectures and 37.7% of municipalities).

The survey also found that 61.8% of municipalities implemented "Houkago Kodomo Kyoshitsu" and 91.1% implemented "Houkago Jidou Kurabu". The government will continue to promote the "Houkago Kodomo Sogo Plan" to address the challenges and provide a safe and secure after-school environment for all schoolchildren.
