I didn't think I would actually take action on studying abroad, but I did. I applied to study at Lanzhou University in China, which is a prestigious university in the country. The coursework was relatively easy to follow, and I appreciated the freedom to choose my own classes. I found that Taiwanese students have a unique perspective on things, and Chinese teachers appreciated my insights. However, I struggled with the language barrier, as some accents were difficult to understand. The food in Lanzhou was also very spicy, and I had to adapt to a new culinary culture. I learned to use mobile payments, which were convenient, and downloaded VPN software to access blocked websites. I also learned to be mindful of sensitive topics and to listen more than I spoke. Overall, studying abroad was a valuable experience that allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and gain new perspectives. I hope that others will consider taking the leap and studying abroad, despite any uncertainties they may have.
