Summary

Norsk Hydro operates four gas metering stations with two ultrasonic gas flow meters in series, located at Oseberg D and Heimdal platforms. The stations use the "Reference meter method" and have been in operation since 2000 and 2001. The meters were calibrated at Advantica Flow Centre, England, prior to installation, with an uncertainty of ± 0.35% of measured volume. The calibration results show that all meters fulfill the linearity requirement, with a typical linearity of 0.4-0.5% and better than 0.8% for all meters. The deviation from the reference is less than ± 1.50% in the working range. The uncertainty of each calibration point is given in Table 1, along with the repeatability band. The stations provide 100% on-line redundancy and automated quality control, allowing for condition-based maintenance and calibration of measuring equipment.
