Dakshana completed its 9th year of operations in 2015, with 1,146 scholars accepted into IITs out of 2,044, a 56.07% success rate. In 2016, 233 out of 329 scholars were accepted, a 70.82% success rate, and 25 more were successful on their second attempt. The organization's new one-year program, Dakshana Valley, had a 78% success rate with 61 out of 78 scholars accepted into IITs. The program is managed by Dakshana alums, with nearly all faculty and staff under 24 years old. The founder believes in affirmative action and aims to create a meritocracy, inspired by the United Negro College Fund's slogan "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." Dakshana has expanded to coach students for medical entrance exams and has started selecting scholars from non-JNV schools, with a goal to increase the number of female scholars. The organization has invested over $10 million in Dakshana Valley, which has the potential to support thousands of scholars annually.
