Abigroup transformed the aged Camberwell Library and Office facility into a stunning, sustainable new asset for the staff and citizens of Boroondara with the $21 million project, completed in 14 months. The project involved major demolition, construction of new internal elements, and substantial landscaping and civil works. The result is a library on the ground floor, with two new mezzanine floors above for Council office space, featuring a unique timber 'bendy' ply curved feature wall, double glazing, and a combined glass and stainless steel balustrade system. The building incorporates various ESD features, including a 100,000 litre water harvesting tank, natural light sensors, and a motion sensing system to reduce power consumption.
