The Global Land Indicators Initiative (GLII) was established in 2012 to make global-scale monitoring of land governance a reality by 2021, with a five-fold mandate: coordinating dialogues, developing land indicators, raising awareness, promoting evidence-based approaches, and researching land monitoring. The GLII platform has achieved significant success, including developing 15 nationally applicable and globally comparable land indicators, facilitating the development of methodologies and tools for data collection, and creating a training curriculum sourcebook. A meeting was held to review progress, celebrate achievements, and evaluate the relevance of GLII, with objectives to review the roadmap, propose a way forward, and evaluate the mandate. The anticipated outcomes included enhanced understanding of GLII's mandate, mapping of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, synthesis of GLII's relevance, a clear roadmap to tier I for three key SDG land indicators, and renewed partners' support.
