The 2020 GED Globalization Survey, conducted from late February to mid-March 2020, covers 15 emerging markets and developed economies, revealing underlying tendencies in attitudes towards globalization that will remain beyond the pandemic. Key findings include:

More negative attitudes towards globalization and international trade compared to the 2018 survey, with the gains of globalization becoming less obvious.
 A widely shared sense that negative effects of globalization, such as rising inequality or environmental problems, need to be addressed.
* Significant divides in attitudes towards globalization between countries, with support for globalization, international trade, and foreign investment still high in emerging markets but on shakier ground in developed economies, particularly in France.

The survey aims to provide a snapshot of people's perception of different dimensions of globalization, its future development, and its past and current impact on socio-economic factors. The results show that although globalization is perceived as a positive phenomenon on average, support for it is gradually dwindling in emerging and developed countries. Sources of discontent include the distribution of resources, environmental impact, and lack of safety nets for negative outcomes of global integration.
