National Indigenous Radio Service (NIRS) aims to be the "Voice of Our People" through its strategic plan 2020-2025, focusing on three main objectives:

Strengthen the NIRS news service by delivering original news stories, building a professional workforce, and increasing community station engagement, with key performance indicators including 60% original stories, 60% user satisfaction, and being the preferred provider for at least 50% of Indigenous broadcasters.
2. Build financial sustainability through strategic lobbying, alternative income streams, sponsorship revenue, and investment portfolio growth, with targets including a business operational plan, 30% income from sponsorship and events, and 5% annual investment growth.
3. Be the "go-to" content provider by increasing contributions, content sharing, and online presence, with goals such as increased station contributions, multi-platform delivery, and more in-house productions, all currently in progress with review dates set for 2023.
